In 1981, Electronic Engineer, Duane Gregory, invented a sound-filtration based security system. This advanced system sent alarm-signals with the sound of breaking glass or splintering of wood, but would not trigger an alarm state with the sound of a phone ringing or a baby crying. The sound filtration modules utilized X-10 technology to properly communicate alarm signals to a centralized panel, which allowed the sales professional to install this system with little difficulty.

Although the security industry has changed in many ways since 1981, Duane Gregory still works closely with current Icon Directors—Val Gregory (Duane’s son), Matt Sterzer, and Jake Taylor. With combined security/marketing experience of 25 years, Val, Matt, and Jake founded Icon in the year 2000.
